While a service contract of the car is very expensive. However, if you decide not to buy one, it can be just as expensive, if not more. So what are you doing? Simply choose the lesser evil of the two and buy a service contract car. However, keep in mind that the choice of law contract to purchase will result in more research and control than you think. Do not waste your hard earned money simply by buying the first contract that comes your way. Here are some guidelines to follow so as not to get ripped off once you decide to purchase a vehicle service contract.
First, you should read the fine print. In fact, just read not just once, but even three times. If there are certain things that you do not understand, please ask the staff of the service center. Make sure you buy only what you need. Your mechanic can convince you to buy something you do not really need or want to better be on guard. The seller and even the manager quickly inform you what their policy covers, but they will not tell you what does not. Wise, does not it?
It is best to have your car serviced following the maintenance schedule provided in the owner’s manual manufacturers. The manual will contain the schedule oil change and lube, engine development, maintenance of braking systems and so on and so forth. Follow the schedule as much as possible to reduce costs and keep your vehicle as good as new. Your contract will be considered valid as long as you stick to the schedule stated in the manual.
Documentation is key to keeping your valid contract. If staffs service centers are advised to make you lose money, you should also be wise to keep your money in your pocket. All maintenance records and other services should be kept with the date and mileage. Handwritten notes alone are no longer acceptable because it can be forged. What you should also keep receipts are. If you lose a few recipes, ask your service center if they can give you a copy.
Most contracts do not include consequential damages. This is, in the prints. What are the damages? Here is a perfect example so you can understand. If you have a heating problem caused by a covered car thermostat and heating problem boils down to over heating of the engine, the result is a damaged thermostat and a damaged engine. However, engine damage is the consequence of the heating thermostat. So, setting the thermostat is covered by the contract, but the engine damage is not.
While noting all the protections included in the contract, it is also wise to note that the service excluded from coverage. This is because most of the time, as luck would have it, the owners of vehicles have problems not covered in the contract.
